Been Awhile

It's been awhile since I have blogged. I'm just so damn lazy lately when it comes to the computer.. well no when it comes to everything!! LOL I have been working on a lot of varied mediums.. I have found my Panpastels. I always had them but never hardly used them. A friends of mine had been using them so I dragged mine out and then even ordered from Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium the "Portrait" set.. well I haven't stopped using them since. I need a lot of practice but I love love love them!! You can do about everything you do with paint with them.. Here is the last piece I did with them on her face. This was done for Effy Wild's Moonshine Mother workshop. I'm going to be sad when this is over. Almost there.

and then I did this Still Life. I had a ball with this. Loving the little bit of Landscape painting that is in it..

My Brother in Law from Florida fell in love with this piece so I sent it off to him and my sister..

So anywho that's just two of my pieces I have worked on since last blogged.

Lately I've been working with my Genesis Oils doing a lot of Still Lifes and I'm also on the quest to learn how to do my Gals but realistically.. but, always a butt.. I wanted to go back to basics and do one of my gals.. and here she is... A Little Mermaid... LOL  

I'm joining Paint Party Friday this week. I know I've been absent for a week or two.. Just tired of the computer. Wanted to get away from it for a bit. Now I'm back... LOL

 It was my Birthday yesterday and duh hubby took me to the Art Museum. Ohhh I loved it.. we were in the Jewelry department of their gift shop when he whipped out this jewelry box... I was surprised and embarrassed as everyone started to look at us. I told him to put it back and give it to me in the car.. well in the middle of the parking lot he got it out again and put this beautiful necklace on my neck. It was just like the old days for us.. Yup I'm still in love after all these years. Even though we have tons of marital problems we still love each other and that's a lot.

Boy am I lazy!

I sure am Lazy these days.. Just thinking of Blogging I start to yawn and do something else.. I really would like to blog, I want to blog but I'm just plain Lazy! LOL  I'm going to try though.. Starting today..

Here is a Bouquet of Flowers I just completed.. The pattern is by Mary Kingslan Jabilisco.. Check out her sight.. She sells oil paints called Genesis.. I'm really into these lately.. The way they dry is you take your heat gun to them or bake them in the oven.. voila!! a Dry Canvas!! No waiting forever like traditional oils. 

I also completed this week this still life by Mary..

I love painting Glass now. You can not believe how easy it is once you get the illusion going.. LOL

Young Mother

I created my first nude painting.. Though very soft and feminine you can see the starts of a pooched belly from carrying a child.. I never could have children and in the work I'm doing with Effy Wild in Moonshine Mother it came out with my clustering and free writing.. The hurt will always be there within me .. It's way down there now that I'm in my 60's but still ever present..

Dedicated to Stacey

This Portrait is of my Niece Stacey.. not even sure it looks like her but I thought of her every step of the way while I was creating this.. Stacey just went into remission for Breast Cancer. She lost both of her breasts, her hair but not her dignity. I was so proud of her.. Then she just found out that the cancer had spread and she now has Liver Cancer. How strong is she suppose to be? My God she just went through hell!! She was going into New York City last I heard to consult doctors in a big Cancer Medical Center. I'm waiting to hear the news.. I just feel so broken hearted for her.. She fought so hard against the breast cancer and now this. Well she is a fighter.. I know!! and she will beat this for sure!! From my heart to God's ears!!

I call this portrait Summer... She is all dressed in her Summer Finest..   Maybe going out to watch some Polo.. LOL

for a swap

This piece I created is for a swap in a Yahoo Group I belong to.. I don't know why my camera does so much contrast.. The skin really blends quite well but in the picture it looks horrible.

29 Faces again

It's time for 29 Faces again. Am I going to participate you ask.. you betcha!! I hope I can meet the challenge as I'm so involved in learning oil painting now and of coarse there are all my other studies lately. but I'm going to try..

Here is Face #1.. it's a cheat as I did this at the end of August. I'm actually working on a gal as we type..

This is titled "Off to Paris".. The Background was done with Tissue Paper from 7 Gypsys which is all French sayings, words and other stuffs. I love to collage and then use paint, inks and everything else I can think of. I also included a little crochet flower that was a gift to me from my friend Melody. She is a fab Crocheter and sent me a bunch of them.. 

Well I hope I do my link right for the 29 Faces Challenge. It always confuddles me. LOL

A Still Life

I've been creating a lot of Still Lifes lately and a few Landscapes.. I just got into using Genesis Oil Paints. I love them!! They won't dry until you heat set them.. I can just leave my work table and come back three hours later and just pick up where I left off... I love that style of painting... On the other hand I did this one Landscape painting using Traditions Acrylics and used the Direct Method of painting and sat for 8 hours working wet on wet and having the problem of the drying time as the air conditioner in my Studio is very strong and dries everything way too fast.. but I do love my Acrylics too.... I guess I'm just a all over the place artist!! LOL  I do these Still Lifes and Landscapes in between creating "My Gals"...

Here is the Still Life I just Completed and the Landscape I complete a few days ago. Both two totally different methods of painting.

A Fae

The third in the series from Tamara's Summer Workshop was a Fae.. I love Fairies and I love creating them but the one I did at first I didn't like very much. It was something about her eyes that just didn't come out right.. So some days went by and I tried again. This time doing a three quarter portrait.. I liked this one a whole lot better..  

I am going on an art retreat next weekend and we are having a gift round robin.. I might give this one as my gift..  I am quite shy at times about my work and if it's not something that has been bought by someone I get to feeling funny about giving my work as gifts.. Isn't that totally stupid. LOL  That ugly monster inside rises up and says my work isn't good enough as a gift... good enough for someone to buy but not as a gift? Now where is the logic in that? duh and duh again!!

so anywho I'm rambling.. Here is my Fae

Gypsies , Tramps and Thieves

I painted this Gypsy the other day in Tam's new Summer Workshop... My hubby gave me a gift of the workshop.. I wonder what he is feeling guilty about to give me a gift!! ROFL!!  Actually I handle the money but he kind of decides what to do with it... well most of the time.. Now that he is fighting for his sobriety  he is back to handling alot of the money.. at times.. LMAO!! 

anywho here is the Gypsy I painted..  Tam's style has changed a little bit and so she is teaching a tiny bit different.. I learned quite a lot in this first part of her workshop on shading..  That is exactly what I wanted to bone up on.

Do you like my Paw print on the right hand bottom. That is how I'm signing my pieces lately. I should date it though.. I thought now if people don't remember that. LOL

Effy's Blog along

I'm 5 or 6 days late on Effy Wild's blog along.. That isn't like me at all.. I'm late with everything and behind on it all!! My Book of Days is totally behind and all my half done paintings are still half done paintings.. Yet I start on something get bored , start on something else get bored again and again and again. I'm not sure what's going on with me at all.. I'm not in a bad space, not in a great space but things are going smooth at home. well as smooth as they can go. LOL  So what is it? I haven't a clue.  Something is though. This is the second week of this restlessness.. It feels uncomfortable. I can't accomplish much.. My house looks like someone shook it, turned it upside down and back side up again!! and that's not even saying what's going on in my studio!  So I've decided to do what I tell other to do all the time. Make a list of things I have to do.. Do one thing at a time and check it off when done.. can I do this? I don't know I'm still so  meshugana... a little scattered...  a little crazy and a tad bit on the slow and sad side.... 

Is it my time of the month? Nope that don't happen no mo no mo... it does but the doctors say it can't so it's not but it is.... take that doctors!!

Speaking about doctors mine came to the house the other day and told me the spot on my lung is gone.. now how can that happen? I haven't a clue but that was wonderful news. Your probably thinking to yourself that I said "Mine came to the house the other day"  yeah my doctors come to me.. LOL  its only because when I had kicked John out of the house because he wanted to be an addict when he grew up I had to get the doctors to come to me as I couldn't get the wheelchair down the road , up the block and into the doctors by myself.. man do I hate depending on others for that chit. anywho now that John is back home the doctors still come to me.. 

boy am I rambling... okay we have to blog everyday for 30 days so I better shut up so I have something to say tomorrow..

want to see something I did finish? LOL   Here is an Art Journaling Page I did get done. well I think it's done.. I used the borders on one of the Dylusions stencils for the border.. cool huh?/ it's pretty plain jane for me isn't it...

This Piece

I finished this piece the other day and just don't know what to do with it? LOL   I don't think I can sell it as it was a class by Naedeen Masters over at Art Apprentice Online.. My walls are lined with Painting of my gals and other paintings I have done.. Over my bed is going another Piece I have just finished? so what to do? LOL  

I had a ball painting this but it was so Out of the Box for me. I learned a lot about composition, color temperature and other stuffs. I am really learning a lot lately not only from my Mentor Cindi Estes but from Art Apprentice Online. 

It's Friday and I'm suppose to go over to Cindi's to learn how to use Genesis Paints. They are suppose to act like oil paints but not so stinky.. I had a terrible rash all week down below and under my breasts. It's from the heat and being so overweight. What to work on giving up ciggys or losing the weight. I don't think I can do both. but I do have to make some changes in my lifestyle. or lack there of.

I just love the colors  .. I ruined the top when I was painting the sides. Black got on it. Cindi said she would fix it for me next time she is over.

Working on wood

I don't work on wood that much but when I do I like the results a lot.. Here is a piece I just finished that is on wood. It looks like a crate..

I used Watercolor Crayons and Acrylics on the gal and then Acrylics, Inks and tissue paper on the background..

Roses

I just finished this Painting of the three Roses. I learned so much while I was painting this.. Mostly on how much I love doing layer after layer of Highlights and Shadow.  I could go all day just painting those.. it brings so much depth to the piece.

Friday where did the week go?

wow it's was just Monday and now it's Friday!! it flew by for me!!

I created this gal and wanted to give her wild red hair.. I think I got it. LOL  Paint got in it so I just went with the flow and allowed more paint to get all over her hair.. It looks kind of funky..

Living in the Real World

This is not an art post.. This is a me post.. I have always lived in a Dream World. When I was a dancer I dreamed of Dancing .. Now that I'm an Artist because I can not hardly walk anymore I dream of Art..  I never dreamed of becoming a Mom, a Homemaker a man's good wife.. But now that I'm 61 all the things I have ever wanted or maybe it's all I  needed is the above.. I get the if's.. If I had had children they would be older now and be loving and taking care of me.. If I wanted a home I would have owned one and it would be payed for by now and I'd be safe.. If I didn't fruck around so much I would have been married for years and years and once again what's the word.. words  "Be Safe"  I never feel safe anymore. I feel kinda lost in my old age. I have a husband that loves me very much .. but that's after three others that loved me very much.. I have lost everything, gained everything and lost everything again.. so what's it all about Alfie.. It's about having children, having a house and a husband that "stands by your man/woman" .. Now in my old age I can see this so clearly.. " I can see clearly now" La la la.. why couldnt' I see this as I was going on each adventure.. dodging the planes as we brought marijuana in, meeting the socialites as we held big events as politicians, running away to Hawaii for the fun of it.. why didn't I see that in my old age I would need just what I didn't want.. boy if hind site was  blah blah blah..  In everything in life the word "Be Safe" is so important when you get my age.. I can't stay under a bridge if my landlord sells the house because the wheelchair won't fit., I can't eat out of a garbage can because I'm on a special diet since they took my teeth. and I certainly can't sleep on the ground as I need a special mattress for my bad back.. so what's a gal to do who hits 61 with no security.. I tell ya the answer is blowing in the wind.. bullchit.. The answer is pray your ass off to "Be Safe"..

Marrying Whimsy and Abstract

Wow I didn't realize it's been a week since I did a blog post.. Where did the time go? I'm still battling the fact that I had all my teeth removed and am waiting till my gums heal to get dentures.. It's been almost three months now.. When I went over to the dentist last week they were concerned that I'm not healing fast enough. sure naturally I wouldn't.. LOL  I have to stay looking like an old hag for a while more!! woooh is me.. LOL

on another Note - A C Flat! nah j/k... I did a piece where I took a whimsy gal and put her in an Abstract painting... I like it..   I like the Grunge in the background and the colors of the gal.

The Contrast I think looks cool..  I have to varnish it yet..

I've been having this feeling like I want to work really large but don't know what I want to do.. duh and duh again!! LOL

The Goddess Maive

I'm in Effy Wild's Workshop - Moonshine .. It's all about the feminine devine. This week we studied Maive the Irish goddess ..She is the goddess of "Intoxication" .. She liked to screw around a lot!! Took many husbands.. Drank Mead a lot.. and in the end was killed.. She was a warrior.. Google her for a lot more information. I just did the short abridged version. LOL

Here is what Effy wrote about Moonshine so it's better explained

Moonshine is a seasonally driven spiritual painting program that will enfold you in the stories, power, and beauty of the feminine divine. Moonshine runs in quarterly sessions with a Summer (May, June, July), Autumn (August, September, October), Winter (November, December, January), and Spring (February, March, April) session, each lasting three months (or approximately 12 weeks). 

I'm in the Summer Session so far..

I painted a picture of Maive.. That's a crow in the background.. ROFL!! I sure had a hard time with that beak! LOL

I'm having a hard time when I mask something to keep my original proportions.. Like her leg is a little off. This won't be for sale that's for sure! I did have a lot of fun painting it.. It's mixed media as the background and most of the gal is watercolor, and the tree and some other elements are acrylics.

On Abstract Art

I'm taking a workshop that Julie Prichard is doing on Abstract Art. It is called 8 Great Paintings..I really was surprised at how much I like it! The freedom of not have a sketch to follow or being really controlled in what your painting is so foreign to me since I am such a control freak!! But I found it very freeing and sooo much fun!! There is a lot of blending you do with your paints that I really enjoyed so far.. So much your arm get's very tired.. LOL  The workshop is done very well with Julie showing different techniques as she does 8 paintings. I am really enjoying this workshop..

 Also strange to me is not working with a lot of color.. I'm a color freak too! LOL  Using browns, black and gray is also freeing to me.Or just two or three colors. I don't have to grab my color wheel all the time.. decide my palette and think! LOL  I am just putting various shades and tones of the same color.. How much fun.. I didn't think I would enjoy that but it seems this is a different side of me. Who knew? LOL

Here are three pieces I have finished so far.. I like the last one the best..

My Camera did a lousy job of showing different values.. There are big differences it didn't pick up.. I wonder what setting I need..

Altered Clock

I've been doing my Arting a little different lately. I want to mix it up more. Not do just Cutsey Gals or just do Portraits. So I've been doing like a round robin.. with an I and not me with a Y. LOL

I want to start my week by altering something, them doing a Scrapbook Layout, then maybe an Art Journal Spread and then I'll work on one of my Gals. I don't want to get out of practice but I sure want to do all sorts of Artwork. That's me for right now. Who knows next month I might be so involved with doing gals again.  I'm like the wind these days I change for no reason. I also want to carve some more stamps. I relax a lot when I'm doing that and I have to relax. Why? because I found out my heart is enlarged and I have something heart failure. I'm not even sure what's going on at all. I took a cardiogram the other day but they don't have the results back yet. I have hardly ever been a sicky but lately I'm sick so much... It has to be stress and my attitude.. Also smoking cigarettes but that's another story all together.  Yes I'm under a lot of stress again with my husband. He came home from Rehab full of enthusiasm to stay straight and decided he didn't want after all to be a junkie when he grew up. Yeah I let him back in the house. After 13 years I thought maybe I could save the marriage. He did real well for three months and then has started to back slide. I went through a couple of real stressful weeks. He seems to be back on track again but my eyes are wide open and I am not going to fool myself to think all is well. Then in the middle of that I had all my teeth pulled. I can not tell you what a life changing event this has been. I'm quite upset over this. I look like an old woman now.. When I hit 61 I didn't feel it at all. I didn't feel way passed 40.. but now when I look in the mirror, if I look in the mirror I see a stranger totally! and the pain is just what I needed to to along with my back and leg pain.... yeah I'm being sarcastic!! LOL  I get dentures in about 6 weeks.. Joy of joys having something foreign in my mouth all the time.. yeah I'm being sarcastic again!! ROFL!! I have to laugh or I'll start to cry and never stop.. I don't feel sorry for myself having to be in a wheel chair but I am going through a depression of sorts about this heart thing and my teeth.. 2013 sure is a year for changes for me. so what has this got to do with my arting... My art is everything to me.. If it wasn't for art I wouldn't make it.. It's my therapy.. For about a week I couldn't even get in my studio to look at my work I was so depressed but now I threw off that funk and am back to doing some work.. Little by little by doing my art I'm feeling a bit better.. Or at least when I'm in my studio I feel better. Then I have to leave and go back to reality which really sucks right now. So many people have it way worse then me.... I have to really think of that and find gratitude when I can. I'm just whining anywho. 

anywho again here is an Altered Tim Holtz Clock I did this passed Sunday.. I really got lost in my artwork when I was making this.. Hours went by when I wasn't at my Pity Party.. and that felt good..

Can you see the girl inside .. I used paper by Graphics 45. "The Secret Garden".. Beautiful Paper.. 

I gessod the piece with two layers of Gesso and then added the paint.. did some stamping.. The I added the flowers inside the clock. what a chore that was to get them to the edge, not on the glass and standing up.. I got hot glue all over me.. Owie is right!!

I topped it off with the frame and the chipboard piece with a little bow.. cute huh? LOL

Like I said I left my Pity Party for awhile and had a blast doing this piece..

so sorry you had to read about my woes but it does me good to 

talk about they say.. who's they? I aint got a clue! LOL

Getting away from cutsey

I'm working on another cutsey piece and all of a sudden I didn't want to do it. I was tired of the cutsey. I grabbed my Journal and worked this Art Journal Spread up.  It felt good to just go with it.

Now I can go back to my cutsey piece. LOL
