29 Faces and OMG Where have I been

It's been soooooo long since I blogged. Where have I been?? wow... I have been doing a lot of art.. Getting my nerves up for this show I'm in in Indianapolis come spring.. and just doing life..

I have learned so much the past few month.. One thing I learned is I suck at watercolors, I love working with oil paint and I still love love creating "My Gals"..  LOL

My hubby is doing really well and our marriage is on the right track again.. He is straight and sober and one year old into his sobriety from drugs. I'm still in a wheelchair when we go out.. That condition is getting worse but my artwork helps me break through the pain..

I still listen to good ole rock and roll and classical music and I still need to go on a diet and quit smoking.. as she puffs hard on a cigarette.. well I won't get on my soapbox on how they need rehab for smokers.. no I just won't..

well anywho it's time for 29 faces again and I hope to keep up with it.. I'm ahead of the game. I have two done.. well I took this fabulous class from Karen Milstein called Painting Faces.. check it out .. I found out about it on Facebook. Don't really know a link but her art is out of this world beautiful.. I also have taken other classes since I last blogged.. some good some not so good.. I'm addicted to art, addicted to art classes and addicted to supplies... boy am I powerless or what! LOL

okay here are the two portraits I created from Karen's class.

she uses a lot of Gesso when she works... Combining it with pastels , paints and watercolor crayons... and that's all I'll say because if you take her class you will learn a heck of a lot..

Gesso, well that's another subject.. eh Cindi????? ROFL!!
(private joke)

These are not my usual style .. I love this style though and will be doing a lot more of them for awhile.

My Etsy Shop is opened again. Yeah I paid the bill.. LOL

Since I'm blogging I might as well join the party over at

If you are interested in any painting and can't get to my shop give me a shout at

raw@ididitcreations.com

I do ship overseas

Thanks for coming by. I know it's been like forever.. I promise I will post more often.. I have to I'm in 29 faces.. LOL

On Getting My Teeth Pulled

Last Wednesday I got all my teeth pulled.. It was one of the worst things that has ever happened to me. I woke to run my tongue around my mouth and there was NO TEETH!! It was shock from the very start!!... In the Wee hours Thursday I awoke to find I was swollen like a football.. With Pink Blotches.. I called the Emergency Doctor and he said this was to be expected... That morning I spoke with my Surgeon and he was concerned that my throat would close up.. He told me to go straight to the hospital if this even tried to happen.. Well it's about four days later and I'm still pretty swollen.. The pink blotches turned to an ugly purple and yellow.. My eyes are kind of purple and closed.. It is the worst experience I have had.. I have to wait 6 weeks to get dentures.. and that is going to be a trial for sure!! something foreign in my mouth... If I had only listened to my Mother when I was a young adult... How many times have I said that "If I had only listened to my Mother"... LOL  I had a phobia all my life of dentists and this is the outcome.. If only I had to do it over again I sure would have taken care of them.. but what's that about hindsight.. I sure am paying for it now... I told my hubby I look like a monster!! I'm very depressed about it all. I guess I have to keep my eye on the prize and know that down the road I will look okay again..

anywho to keep my mind off of this I joined Effy Wild in her Workshop "Sweetlings".. That is what she calls her Mixed Media Art Dolls... I had a ball in this workshop creating this piece.. And it did the job of keeping my mind off of my problems for awhile..

I'm Joining Paint Party Friday..

Head on over there to see some fabulous work by some great Artists..

Thanks for stopping by..

Mixed Media with the Girls

I'm taking another workshop by Wyanne called Mixed Media with the Girls.. I am so totally loving this workshop!! It is soooo much fun!! I'm learning a ton of Techniques like using Saran Wrap and Kosher Salt in my backgrounds.. I'm using a lot of washes and I hadn't before in my earlier pieces. Learning how to control the paint either Watercolor or Acrylics.  If you want to take a really fun workshop on Girlies this is the one to to take. She makes it soooo easy to learn if you are very new to drawing and painting Gals. I won't give away her secret but it sure is cool what she does to teach you how to create one! LOL

Another thing about Wyanne's workshops is that they are not sooo expensive that you have to give away your first born to take them!! LOL  And they are jam packed with information..

Here is the first piece I worked on in this workshop

Wyannes Watercolor workshop came in handy since she taught in that workshop how to mask..

I masked this Gal and did the background. This is how I want to do it from now on.

Usually I would Do my Gal on another piece of paper and then Glue it onto my finished Background

I would then incorporate her into the piece. I always felt something was missing when I did it this way.

By masking you can work your background and work the gal on the same piece. I love love it!!

Using Masking Fluid takes a little bit to get used to but it's well worth the practice for sure!!

This piece isn't finished as I am going to try this technique
doing a Faux Beeswax finish..

I have to get some soft gel medium glossy..

I have all the other ingredients it takes.

I'm telling you Wyanne really packs her workshops with fabulous information!!

I'm joining Paint Party Friday this week..

Head on over there to see some fabulous work..

Things at home are about the same... We have decided to go into Counceling and boy do we need it!!

John is still clean and he will be going to outpatient treatment starting next week.

Please pray that he stays Straight and that we work things out with our marriage..

In my heart of hearts I really don't want our marriage to end.

Hey you all!! Thanks for stopping by..

On Working Small

I have always had such a hard time working on small pieces. I've tried painting on ATC cards which are 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 and always have a really hard time. The bigger the substrate the easier it is for me.. I wanted to enter into this Swap at this Yahoo Group I'm in called Altered Design. The swap is to create an Angel or Devil on a Tag which is about 3x6 inches.. Bigger then than the ATC card but still pretty small.. Well I think I finally accomplished it! LOL   I really took my time sketching so small and then painting my Angel with a very small Filbert Brush and Liner Brush.. This piece took a lot of time to do as I wanted to be very careful. I found drawing her lips the hardest. I must of erased about 20 times until I sort of liked what I had. LOL

Anywho I finally finished it like 6 hours later.. Well there were interruptions, like the dogs wanting out like a million times. The telephone ringing and that thing called taking time out to eat.. What a pain! ROFL!! When I start to paint I get so into it I hate to stop.. That is why I usually work in the wee hours but my family is onto me and their getting up with me lately.. I want to scream "Go To Bed NOW" but I hold my tongue.. well most of the time. LOL

I really enjoyed working on a Tag.. Creating the Background then adding my angel.. I might do some more of these for sure!!

I used Watercolor Crayons, Watercolor Pencils, Acrylics, inks, and Perfect Pearls. Perfect Pearls is a paint like substance that when you apply it it comes out like little pearls. I used this on her wings.

I'm joining Paint Party Friday this week and oh by the way I'm the Featured Artist this week. OMG I feel so shy about it! When I did the interview I was so big and brave but now it's published I'm like feeling so tiny and shy. Like a little kid wanting everyone's approval! LOL.. I don't know why but that's the feeling I'm getting... Weird huh?

Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

She Only Flew

She Only Flew when no one was Looking is the title of my new Mixed Media Piece I just finished this morning in the wee hours..

I finger painted the background. That's my favorite tool - My fingers! LOL  I also finger painted the lollipop flowers... I used Designer Paper and some Old Book Pages on this piece.. My first layer was a Dress Pattern. I put some Glaze Medium into my paints to make them more transparent but I went a little crazy putting too much paint on.I had wanted that first layer to show.. I always do this and tell myself not to. LOL  I just love to get all messy with paint and never know when to stop! ROFL!!

I also used some rubons on this piece.. I use them a lot lately..Santa bought me some Bombay India Ink and boy do I love it!! It stays black and doesn't soak into the last layer of paint like some other inks do. How did I live without it! LOL

This piece is for sale in my Etsy Shop.. and yes Prints will be coming real soon.

I'm still getting used to my new camera.. This piece looks a lot better in person..

For some reason I'm getting good color but no variations hardly at all of the color.. Like with the Sun I used two shades of yellow but the camera didn't pick it up.
I think I have some setting wrong..

I'm joining Paint Party Friday this week..

Head over there to see some fabulous Artists works..

I've been busy

About a month ago I had what I thought was a Sciatica Attack and took to bed for the most part in excruciating pain. I'd come up to my studio and work a little bit but couldn't sit for long periods of time. I tried sitting on a pillow but after awhile the pain was unbearable. so anywho it's not really sciatica . It's the nerves alright but it's not going to go away much. I expected after about a week if it really was a sciatica attack to just go as it came... but nooooo this is the condition I'm going to have to live with now. The doctors finally gave me some anti inflammatories to take with my pain meds. Boy is that helping.. but it's just not going away.. I'll take any relief though.. These pills are giving me insomnia so I'm up all night in my studio working away. I usually did this but now instead of 2 in the morning I'm in there by midnight. Oh well, sleep is over rated anywho.

So to make a long story longer I'm going to be getting a wheelchair for when I go out of the house. In the house I can manage because I don't stand up for long periods of time. but if I want to go over to Wally World or Michaels I need the chair... Years ago the doctors told me I'd be back in a chair. I got out of one after my accident. I got mad one day and called a Physical Therapist and had him teach me how to walk again. well years later here we go again. The doctors were right I guess. I didn't really believe it but now it's a reality. I can adjust I guess. Worse things could happen right? I have my health for the most part so I'm doing good at my age.. Yuck I turned 61 last week.

Well anywho again the point I'm trying to make is now that I had some relief from pain I've been up in my studio working away like a mad women.. Figuring the pain is going to come back bad so take advantage of the lull while I can. LOL.. I'm creating Gal after Gal and Art Journaling. I even did a Halloween Card. I want to scrapbook also to finish off an album for my Nephew...

so anyways here is what I have been working on. Whew, what a long post!! My fingers ache from typing so fast. LMAO! whine whine

This top piece is the one that was Commissioned and it's sold.... Her name is Steampunk Annie.

I just Finished this piece. I added the Romi Quote.. I just discovered Romi and I love the quotes. It's a he isn't it??
Yeah I'm a late bloomer.. LOL

This piece looks a lot better in person. why? cause my camera sucks!

This third piece I finished Friday Night.. I had done the background first and didn't like it.. It was going to go into the garbage can.. Like a lot of my work does.. well not really well anyways I did this gal and it went so well with this background I
cut her out of my Journal and put her onto this..
voila! I like it now..

Both of these pieces are for Sale in my

New Faces

I'm taking a workshop from Mika over at Motley Souls . It's called Painted Ladies ATC Book .. We are painting some Faces of Ladies and then creating a book to put them in. Mika is working ATC size. I had a problem working that small so she said to make it 5x7.. That I could do. LOL

Here are two of the Faces I have completed. I need to find the book I'm going to use and create some backgrounds.

This bottom one is suppose to be 5x7 but good ole me can't do measurements even
with a ruler!! I swear I made it 5x7 !! But when I cut it out from the paper I used it was not that size at
all!! ROFLMAO!!

If you want to learn how to draw front face and 3/4 portraits come join us
over at Motley Souls.
Mika is a fabulous teacher and you will be drawing in no time flat!!

This workshop will teach you both plus you'll have this project to do creating the book.

That's a lot for one workshop!

Hey!! Thanks for stopping by.

Been awhile

It's been awhile since I posted. My legs have changed for the worse. The doctor said about a year ago I might end up back in a wheelchair and I think the time has come. I can not stand for more then a half hour. This week I was at office depot getting some pieces scanned and ready to go into this shop in town for sale. I stood for over two hours. Went home in terrible pain. The next day my hubby and I were car shopping and the same thing happened. Since then I can hardly get out of bed. So I think the time has come that for going out I need to be in the chair. I feel somewhat defeated as years ago after my motorcycle accident I fought hard to get out of that chair! Life happens and sometimes we just have to give in to the worst and hope for the best.

anywho I did complete this painting last weekend but haven't been on the computer to post it.

She was created with Acrylics and Watercolor Crayons on Hot Press Poster Board

I'm going to be opening up an Etsy Shop real soon where prints can be bought as well as the originals
of my work.

My Comfort Zone

I wanted to enter one of the Challenges over at Mystele's Little Glimpses Studio. Which by the way is now called Community Thrive.  Anywho I was really down on inspiration when I went over to her Ning Network. I found one of the challenges was to watch a video they provided and gather inspiration from that. Then create a piece on how it inspired you.. That was just what I needed to jump start me. As I watched this video I realized I hardly take chances in my Artwork. I don't go out of the box enough. Always afraid I'm going to ruin the piece...I stay in my Comfort Zone... So what huh? It's only a piece of paper they say! but all the time I put into it I say back. so what's time? Time is over rated anywho!! LOL

well to make a long story longer I went at this piece with screwing it up in mind. I made myself not care if I did. I prepared myself to work hard and then in the end rip it out of my journal and throw it out. It was okay with me.... That is how I tackled this challenge.. Well I didn't ruin it. I think this is one of my best pieces and I learned so much about taking a chance and going out of my comfort zone!! wow aren't I profound!! LMAO  am I going to be able to do it again?? I don't know but I sure had a ball just letting go!! Try it yourself. Create something and make it mean nothing  but some exercise.. go at it like it doesn't matter.. Go out of your comfort zone and try something that you have had in my mind but were afraid to try because you didn't want to screw up.. Knowing you were going to screw up no matter what.. Guess what! I bet you don't! LOL

I'm linking up to Paint Party Friday this week and

I love going over to these blogs and looking at all
the Talent that is on the Web..
Some Fantastic Artwork is being created!!

Let Go!

I work so hard to blend and shade my Portraits.. But because of my lousy camera I can never see it in my photos.. sooooo on this piece I said to myself. "Self, either we are going to ruin this or have the shading finally show up!! " LMAO!  so I went to town Blending and Shading this piece.. Finally I have a good picture and I didn't ruin it!! so why am I telling you this??? well duh it's because I let go that I finally had a piece that I even liked!!

So the moral to my story is "Let Go" when your creating... it's just a piece of paper.. you can always do it again, fix it or as I have done many times Throw it out!! but when you do "Let Go" you just might get some
Complete Satisfaction..

LOL boy am I Profound today!!

This Piece was done on Mixed Media Paper using Acrylics and Neo Color II Watercolor Crayons

Hey!! Thanks for stopping by and listening to me
Ramble..
